Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Analyze the scope and financial impact of health care fraud.
  2. Identify and describe common health care fraud schemes (e.g., upcoding, kickbacks, drug diversion, identity theft) and recognize emerging trends in fraud detection and prevention.
  3. Explain the relationship between health care fraud systems and the increasing threat of data breaches and ransomware attacks, and evaluate the vulnerabilities they introduce to health care organizations.
  4. Analyze real-life case studies to better understand how health care fraud occurs.
