Bedside procedure education requires an intentional approach by the educator to ensure patient safety and grow learner's skills. We will discuss how to diagnose, support, and build your learner's bedside procedure skills adaptable to any inpatient or outpatient procedure.

WSU Graduate Medical Education programs and the Office of Faculty Affairs and Continuing Professional Development design and deliver up-to-date content in medical education topics for practitioners working with residents. The aim of these sessions is to promote active learning and engagement, fostering a community of faculty as educators, and improving the overall health of our patients and communities.

1. Identify the components of a pre-procedure huddle.
2. Discuss effective procedure communication and set expectation for interruption and resumption.
3. Use a mini-simulation or just-in-time practice to evaluate learner’s skill before a procedure.
4. Review the post-procedure debrief to reinforce successful skills and modify approach to future procedure.
