Overview
The Center for Rural Opioid Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery (CROP+TR) aims to provide training and technical assistance to rural communities for prevention, treatment, and recovery from opioid misuse. The purpose of this webinar series is to disseminate high quality virtual training opportunities to rural Washington healthcare providers on topics relevant to the management of opioid use disorder, including treatment of substance us disorders that are increasingly seen concurrently with opioid misuse.  CROP+TR is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and led by faculty from the Washington State University College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, and Extension. To learn more about CROP+TR activities, visit www.croptr.org. Individual Activity Descriptions: 1. Cannabis: Medical use, misuse, and in-between (1 hour) Speaker: Tracy Klein, PhD, BSN, MSN Date: Originally recorded April 27th, 2021 Activity description: Tracy Klein, PhD will describe the difference between medical and recreational use of Cannabis, as well as the conditions for which the medical use of cannabis is supported by research. She will also review the diagnosis of Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD) and share tools and resources available for clinical risk assessment.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between medical and recreational use of cannabis under WA state law.
  2. Define and identify conditions for which medical use of cannabis is supported by research
  3. Describe the differential diagnosis, incidence, and sequalae of cannabis use disorder (CUD)
  4. Evaluate tools and resources available for risk assessment and referral of CUD

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements of the Washington State Medical Association through the joint providership of Providence Health Care and Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Providence Health Care is accredited by the WSMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Providence Health Care designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditsâ„¢. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity meets the criteria for up to 1.00 hours of Category I CME credit to satisfy the re-licensure requirements of the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission.
