Coaching for Success: Principles for Coaching in UME/GME Programs

This eLearning was developed to provide UME/GME coaches with a solid foundation in the principles, competencies, and best practices of coaching medical students and residents. Drawing on evidence-based techniques and real-world examples, this course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support learners throughout their medical education journey.

1. Describe the principles of a coaching program in UME/GME.
2. Apply principles to a coaching meeting.
3. Differentiate between coaching, mentorship, sponsorship, and advising. 
4. Describe the role of coaching in supporting learning.
5. Describe the approach towards a struggling learner using coaching.
6. Create a coaching plan for a learner.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
