Overview

This will be a review of the pathophysiology of common retinal diseases and the evolution of their treatment over time.

The series offers lectures in four main categories: self-development, practice management, patient/community services and second opinion case presentations. The objective is to provide a dedicated time for effective information exchange with other health professionals to further improve patient care and personal well-being. The lecture series also provides an opportunity for participants to update current understanding of medical-based topics as well as to expand their knowledge base outside of their immediate fields. Intended audience: Medical Staff within the Pullman Regional Hospital and Clinic Network & WSU Residency Center network. This may include, but not limited to, attending physicians, resident physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, therapists (physical, occupational, speech, respiratory), and students.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Understand the pathophysiology of diabetic eye disease.
  2. Be familiar with current treatments of diabetic macular edema and diabetic retinopathy.
  3. Understand the pathophysiology of age related macular degeneration.
  4. Be familiar with the current treatments of exudative and nonexudative macular degeneration.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Medicine. The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
