Overview

This interactive case-based module is appropriate for clinicians who care for patients who are prescribed opioids or who need to meet training requirements (this module meets 1.5 of 8 hours). Developed by an interprofessional team of expert faculty at Washington State University, the case module presents a patient who has been prescribed opioids after a traumatic injury, and who also happens to be a healthcare professional. The case reviews challenges related to opioid prescribing, pain management, medication interactions, and management of substance use disorder. The module also addresses the controversial question of cannabis as a medication for pain management or as an adjunct for tapering opioids.
