Overview

The WSU College of Medicine’s Office of Educational Affairs and Office for Faculty Affairs and Continuing Professional Development are hosting an in-person Pre-Clerkship Faculty Retreat in the Medicine Building on the WSU Spokane Campus on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. This will be a day-long experience featuring sessions designed for College of Medicine Faculty who teach first- and second-year learners in the MD Program.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize strategies and resources that support pre-clerkship student well-being and success.
  2. Identify and apply practical approaches to address common student challenges.
  3. Use inclusive and effective teaching strategies in the pre-clerkship setting.
  4. Adapt teaching approaches to support diverse learners across the curriculum.
  5. Build connections with colleagues and support units to access key resources (tools, people, frameworks, etc.) for teaching.

Accreditation

The Washington State University (WSU) Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
